🏖️ Facilities & Amenities

There are no permanent lockers at Haulover Beach. Here's what most people do: bring a waterproof dry bag to keep your phone and valuables with your towel and belongings while you swim. Most people simply leave their items on their chair or blanket — the community at Haulover is remarkably respectful, but basic common sense applies: don't leave valuables unattended for long.
There is a snack cart and concession stand in the clothing-optional section most days. The full Haulover Beach Park also has a full-service restaurant and additional concessions near the main facilities. We recommend bringing plenty of water — you'll be in the sun and you need to stay hydrated.

📋 Rules & Etiquette
Yes. The northern portion of Haulover Beach Park has been officially designated as clothing-optional by Miami-Dade County. As long as you remain within the clearly marked clothing-optional section, you are fully complying with local law. The boundary is well-signed — no guesswork required.
Not at all. Clothing is optional — that's the whole point. Some people visit fully clothed the entire time. Others work up to it over a few visits. Nobody will pressure you or make you feel bad for staying dressed. Come as you are and do what feels comfortable.
Always ask before photographing people. This is one of the most important rules at any nudist beach. You are free to photograph the scenery, the ocean, and yourself — but photographing other people without their explicit consent is a serious breach of etiquette and can get you removed from the beach. Be respectful. The community takes this seriously.
No. Alcohol is not permitted on Haulover Beach. Please do not bring it.
No. Pets are not allowed on the beach. Leave your furry friends at home.
No. Glass containers are not permitted on the beach. Use plastic bottles or cans for any beverages you bring. This is for everyone's safety — bare feet and broken glass don't mix.
Please dispose of all cigarette butts appropriately. Haulover Beach is a beautiful natural environment. Cigarette butts are among the most common beach pollutants. Use a portable ashtray or the trash bins provided.

People are there to enjoy the sun and ocean, not to evaluate you. Read our full First-Timers Guide before you go.
Head to the northern end of Haulover Beach Park. The clothing-optional section is clearly marked with signs and has its own beach access points. When you're in the right place, you'll know — the signs are obvious and the section is well-established. If you're unsure, ask a park employee or one of the South Florida Free Beaches Ambassadors you'll find near the entrance.
The essentials:
  • Reef-safe SPF 50 sunscreen — and bring more than you think you need
  • Water — lots of it. You're in the Florida sun.
  • A towel or beach chair
  • A waterproof bag for your phone, keys, and wallet
  • Cash for chair/umbrella rentals and the snack cart
  • A great attitude
Wear something easy to remove — a light cover-up, flip-flops, a simple dress or shorts. Once you're at your spot on the beach, you can disrobe at your own pace. Most people fold their clothes and leave them on their chair or in their bag. There's no ceremony to it. Just take your stuff off when you feel ready and enjoy the sun.
Absolutely. A huge percentage of Haulover Beach visitors come alone. The community is incredibly welcoming. People say hello, strike up conversations, and make friends easily. Many first-timers who came solo ended up meeting people they stayed in touch with for years. You will not feel weird or out of place going alone.
Yes. Haulover Beach is a public beach with no age restriction. Families come here all the time. Nudism is not a sexual or adult activity — it's a lifestyle centered on body freedom, nature, and community. There's nothing inappropriate about enjoying the beach without the restriction of clothing. Many nudists grew up visiting beaches like Haulover with their families and look back on it fondly.
This is one of the most common concerns for men visiting for the first time. The honest answer: it rarely happens because the context is so non-sexual. But if it does — roll over onto your stomach, drape your towel, or take a walk into the ocean. It's a physiological response, not a moral failing. The community at Haulover understands. What's not okay is intentionally displaying an erection or using it to make others uncomfortable — that crosses into lewd behavior, which is illegal and will get you removed. But the normal, involuntary, goes-away-on-its-own kind? Handle it discreetly and move on. Nobody is going to make a scene.
It happens more often than you'd think — especially among Miami locals. Wave and say hello. They're there for the same reason you are. There's no shame in enjoying the beach in your own skin. Chances are, you'll both laugh about it and end up having a great conversation.
⚖️ Legal & Safety
No. Nudism and sexual activity are two completely separate things. Being nude at Haulover Beach is legal. Lewd behavior is not — and that includes any sexual acts or intentional sexual displays in public. Anyone behaving lewdly will be arrested by police and face serious legal penalties. Haulover Beach is a family-friendly, body-positive place. Keep it that way.
Yes. Haulover Beach is a well-established, well-maintained public park in Miami-Dade County. The South Florida Free Beaches organization has Ambassadors present who help maintain the atmosphere and assist visitors. Use common sense — don't leave valuables unattended, stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and respect the water safety conditions posted by lifeguards.
Everyone. Literally. All ages, races, ethnicities, nationalities, body types, and walks of life. Haulover is world-famous and draws visitors from across the US, Canada, Europe, South America, and beyond. That diversity is part of what makes it so special. There's no "type" — you belong here.
No. The clothing-optional designation applies only to the designated section of the beach. Once you leave that area — including the parking lot, the underpass tunnel, and public streets — you must be clothed. Cover up before you leave the beach. This applies to swimwear as well — use common sense about what's appropriate once you're off the sand.
Alert a lifeguard or park staff immediately. You can also find South Florida Free Beaches Ambassadors in the clothing-optional section — they are volunteers dedicated to keeping the space safe and welcoming. You can also call the Miami-Dade Police Department if needed. Harassment is not tolerated.
